Stress and self-esteem in young high school students

Introduction The course of adolescence is marked by feelings insecurity, vulnerability and can be accompanied the emergence several mental health problems. Having a good self-esteem brings many benefits such as security, well-being strong sense confidence. Low often psychological distress stress. Objectives To assess level stress in young high school students to identify risk factors associated with low these adolescents. Methods This was cross-sectional, descriptive analytical study conducted among sample adolescents randomly collected 6 schools region Sfax-Tunisia, during month February 2022. assessed using Lovibond Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, both scales are validated Arabic. Results We 396 mean age 16.65+/-0.897 years sex ratio 0.82. Of adolescents, 102 had symptoms according DASS-21 scale, i.e. 26% sample. severe extremely 37.2% cases. very found 65.7% cases compared 14.7% self-esteem. In addition association levels (p=0.002), other psycho-social intra-family relationship problems (p=0.014), history repeating year (p=0.026), average performance (p=0.027) behavioural environment (p=0.032). Conclusions These results suggest that certain helps deterioration vice versa. may protect individual from vulnerabilities help him/her cope them. Disclosure Interest None Declared
